Last month, Wild Pink announced their fourth full-length, ILYSM. Out October 14th on Royal Mountain Records, the album was co-produced by the groups leader John Ross, with Justin Pizzoferrato (Pixies, Body/Head, Speedy Ortiz) and Peter Silberman of The Antlers, and finds Wild Pink joining forces with a thrilling lineup of guest musicians, including J MascisJulien BakerRyley WalkerYasmin Williams and Samantha Crain. The follow-up to 2021’s A Billion Little Lights—a critically acclaimed effort praised by the likes of PitchforkNPRThe New York TimesBillboardMTVNew York Magazine, and Stereogum, who called it “one of the prettiest rock records of the past decade”—ILYSM sees Wild Pink at their most bracingly personal, as the album's thematic focus is an examination of Ross' recent struggle with cancer.

Following the release of the album's title track, today Wild Pink are sharing a second single from the record, a duet with Julien Baker entitled "Hold My Hand", a song that concerns an experience Ross had just prior to his first cancer surgery.

"I wrote that song right after my first surgery, about lying on the operating table where a member of the surgical team held my hand right before I went under,” says Ross. “It sounds kind of arbitrary, and like it shouldn’t have been as impactful as it was, but I felt very comforted and wanted to capture that loving feeling in the song.

"I knew pretty quickly that I wanted it to be a duet, and I’m super grateful to Julien for joining me on it. This was one of the first songs we rehearsed together as a band in the studio and David’s piano part felt great almost immediately. There were a couple moments like that in the recording process where a song just immediately fell into place as soon as we started playing it."

Wild Pink's ILYSM is out via Royal Mountain Records on October 14th. It is available for preorder here.
