Wax Head, the chaotic, drummer-fronted punk quartet from Manchester, have unleashed their latest single, ‘Rusty Cutter’, on Sour Grapes Records. Their first EP Salt Fat Acid Heat, mastered by JJ Golden (Ty Segall, Osees) saw the band earn critical acclaim and the support BBC Radio 6's Huw Stephens. What follows is ‘Rusty Cutter’. This explosive track is yet another testament to their fiery blend of garage psych and punk energy. Fast becoming known for their raw, high-octane live performances, Wax Head continue to carve out their place in the underground scene, refusing to be ignored.

Speaking on the new single, the band shared: "Rusty Cutter pays homage to our love for garage-rock. Despite us all having various influences, it is the respect for the genre that ultimately ties Wax Head together. We wanted to blend noisy, angular, and experimental sounds into the more straightforward structures we are inspired by, but the track's brain-tickling noise and treble-driven guitars keep it distinctively Wax Head."

Recently, Wax Head took the stage at Manchester Psych Fest to an explosive, bustling audience, playing alongside, The Horrors, Baxter Dury, and Mdou Moctar, marking a significant milestone in their live performance history. The band have also announced a string of headline shows across the UK and Europe this October. Highlights include their highly-anticipated appearances at the prestigious Left Of The Dial festival in Rotterdam and They're Gonna Be Big Festival at Paris' legendary venue, Supersonic.

Contemplating their upcoming tour, Wax Head said: "We are thrilled to go on our first European tour this year - being able to showcase our music to new crowds, explore new cities, and play international music festivals is an exciting opportunity." They elaborate: "We have been playing as a band for just over two years, so this feels quite monumental for us. We are also grateful to Sour Grapes Records for their continued support and PRS Foundation’s International Showcase for funding our trip to Left of the Dial festival in Rotterdam."

‘Rusty Cutter’ was produced by Borja Regueira at The Round Purple Electric Machine and mastered by Harris Newman at Grey Market Mastering. The single’s artwork, featuring the now-iconic “Head in the Drum” photo, perfectly encapsulates the raucous energy and unpredictable nature of Wax Head’s live shows. The image was captured during their sold-out headline performance at London’s The Old Blue Last, a night that ended with an overexcited fan shoving their head into the kick drum during the encore - the kind of untamed reaction the band's live performances ignite in their listeners.

Listen to 'Rusty Cutter' now on all streaming platforms, and catch Wax Head live on their upcoming EU/UK tour this October.
