Windmill Brixton Presents... Christmas At The Windmill
Iconic South London venue The Windmill Brixton has been identified by the Music Venue Trust as one of the 30 venues in imminent danger of permanent closure. Having missed out on vital funding as part of the #saveourvenuescampaign and despite running limited capacity/early finish events in the period between strictest tiers/lockdowns they are in dire need of assistance or the musical community risks losing one of its most important grassroot venues.
Today, they have announced details of a special livestream event that will take place on the 29th December. ‘Christmas At The Windmill’ will feature live sets from black midi, Squid, Tiña, Sweat and Lobby as well as performances from special guests Kae Tempest and La Roux and a DJ set from PVA.
The event is the result of an unlikely but formidable canine collaboration, the brainchild of the venue’s very own legendary ‘Roofdog’ and fellow dog pal Feta – the equally infamous pet of the music producer Dan Carey and his wife Jane.
Speaking about the event Tim Perry – booker at The Windmill says ‘since we found out we were not eligible for the full funding, it’s been truly humbling how artists have come out to support the venue. It really makes us feel that this is a big community and when all this is over, we might just bounce back stronger than before.’
Tickets are on sale from 8am – Tues 15th December with a pay what you can policy (min £10).
