"Lovely L.A. band gets right the balance between tight strumming and swooping electronics, turning out light, charming songs that are long on both melody and heartache." Rolling Stone
"If there was ever a band to spearhead the recent renaissance of dream-pop fever then this is the act to get invested in." Aquarium Drunkard
"Unexpected pleasure" Pitchfork
"This is a band that should no longer go ignored." Consequence of Sound
Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Letting Up Despite Great Faults is the sonic diary of founding member, Mike Lee.
A blissful mix of lo-fi, shoegaze and indie rock, the Paper Crush mini-album is their first release in the UK. Already with TV exposure under their belts in the US, their 2009 release was met with unanimous critical acclaim, garnering rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Exclaim! and countless influential indie music blogs.
Judging by the rapidly growing number of fans being left smitten by Letting Up’s brand of "dreamy indie pop that boys want to make and girls want to fall in love with" (TheNewMusic.net), Paper Crush should make a similar impact.
Highlights include the vibrant single, Teenage Tide (out in the UK on 10 October), the softly-softly opener Repeating Hearts and bass driven I Feel You Happen. Creating an effortlessly bewitching sound, layered with melody and feedback, the band’s Paper Crush was released on 1 August 2011 in the USA via Old Flame Records and is set to be released in late October in Europe via Heist Or Hit Records.
The band plan to tour the UK in early 2012.
