Blissful indie rock from The Dirt Tracks

Album Release: The Dirt Tracks, Never Been To Mars
Label: GVD Records
Release date: 26 Sept 2011

Muddy chords and swathes of underlying synths characterise this new offering from Spain’s foremost live band, The Dirt Tracks. Finding inspiration in the ambitiousness of Muse and the rousing anthemia of Placebo, Never Been To Mars owes just as much to the likes of Bowie and Kraftwerk as it does to those modern day contemporaries. With a firm focus on melody, Karl (sampler), Masid (drums), Miquel (bass), Rafa (guitar) and Coma (guitar and vocals) have a keen collective ear creating blissful indie-rock.

The band was initially formed in 2000 under the name of Oddshow. Throughout the years of gigs and concerts, hard work and various line-up changes along the way, the band continued to develop their style and started to create its own themes, until in 2006, when they produced their first album, Puppets, to critical acclaim. They were praised by the press in their homeland, the Puppets release galvanizing the members, building a desire to perfect their work and produce their second album, Shapes. Mastered at Abbey Road London Shapes was nurtured and perfected to the finest detail.

2011 sees the band the release a brand new single, Never Been To Mars. Already a hit on the live circuits of Spain and Germany, the band also embarks on their first tour of the UK in September.
